Rick found all of these in one day. If anyone needs some rocks for their landscaping, you are welcome to come and get some. They breed every time it rains.
The other lovely thing we have out here...calcium/salt in the soil. Oh heck we don't have soil, we have dirt. The first time we saw the crust of whiteness we weren't sure if it was frost.
Alas, it is not. It is salt build up We are going to have to add a lot of acid to help bring down the pH before we can really grow anything other than grass.
(We are bringing in top soil first)

Wow.. How do you go about pouring acid on it? That sounds like a pain in the hiney.
We don't pour acid on it, we have to mix in acidic stuff such as peat. Peat will also help break up all the clay so that the water will have a place to move through it.
