Too much tv?

We had a discussion today...We - Rick and I - think we might be watching too much tv in our home. Why do we think that you might ask. Well...Sunday or Monday night of this week, I can't remember which now, I had a dream that my car died and I had to switch to the back up battery and flip the ignition a few times. Yes I said ignition switch. How does this relate to tv - On Sunday during the race, Jeff Gordon's car had power problems. He switched to his back up battery and had to flip the ignition switch to get it going. (They have ignition switches in race cars.) The problem is that Rick had a similar dream the same night!
THEN - Tuesday or Wednesday night I had a dream that I was in Hawaii Five-O (One of my new favorite shows). It was a great episode. At the end of the dream I said to myself, that was a good episode I need to write it down. I totally knew it was a dream too.
So what are we going to do about...turn off the tv more? HECK NO! Why wreck a great thing. In fact, I just had comcast out here making sure that all of my cable outlets work. Heaven forbid I want to move my upstairs tv into a different room and the cable not work.

Weekend Getaway

A few weekends ago we went to Park City for a break. We stayed at the Escala Lodges at The Canyons.

It is always entertaining to go to The Canyons aka Wolf Mountain aka Park West. Rick and I both remember it as a mud pit.

In fact, Rick's family had a home at the base the same time I was skiing there a few times a week. (Once again how close our paths came before they finally came together.) ANYWAY -

We have a wonderful weekend of relaxing, good food and lots of shopping!

Autumn Drive

A week ago we decided to go for a Sunday drive. There are several canyons near our home but nothing like what we grew up around. Usually when we would go for a Sunday drive we would see the leaves changing, sometimes some rain and once in awhile .... COWS! Ok maybe not but we sure see them here.

Magic or The Force?

On Monday someone at work mentioned that they were having a discussion with their daughter about The Force and Harry Potter Magic. I decided to pose the question myself via facebook. For those that missed the conversation that ensued I have posted it below. As you will notice, it became primarily a discussion between my siblings and me.

Which would you rather have - The Force or Harry Potter Magic and WHY?

    • Michele Nell Oh House elves - very good point
      October 4 at 8:55pm ·
    • Maddy Jackson just cause it binds things together doesn't mean its good...it's like dried banana, it too, could bind the galaxy together...
      October 4 at 8:55pm ·
    • Michele Nell Could counter point Matilda - So Jimbo Jr - what else you got?
      October 4 at 8:56pm ·
    • Jim Clark and with the force you don't need a stupid wand that can break and then you are screwed.
      October 4 at 8:57pm ·
    • Melissa True Gibbs The force. I've never read or seen Harry Potter.
      October 4 at 8:57pm ·
    • Michele Nell BUT WHY Melissa? what makes the Force so great in your opinion?
      October 4 at 8:58pm ·
    • Maddy Jackson but once you're awesome at your skills, you don't need a wand. Harry could do things with his mind without even knowing it
      October 4 at 8:58pm ·
    • Melissa True Gibbs B/C I know what it is. I have no freaking clue what Harry Potter's wand is capable of!
      October 4 at 8:59pm ·
    • Michele Nell Ok so here's the deal - at work during our ops meeting this was brought up. one guy and his daughter apparently get into it. What those who haven't really read HP don't understand is that HP doesn't do things because he hasn't learned how...yet. Don't get me wrong, I am all about the Force BUT I have yet to determine that it is better than Magic. I am open for discussion.
      October 4 at 8:59pm ·
    • Jim Clark So? Little kids that are just starting to train with the force do that.

In addition, you get lightsabers. Show me a HP spell that can counter a lightsaber and the force.
      October 4 at 8:59pm ·
    • Michele Nell Melissa - I don't think truly knows. Just ask Luke doesn't truly know what he is capable of either.
      October 4 at 9:00pm ·
    • Kristin Smith Taylor Although the force is very popular around here and would be pretty cool, I think I would go for Potter's magic. They seen to be able to do more with it. I would love brooms that worked themselves. :)
      October 4 at 9:00pm ·
    • Michele Nell That's what I'm talking about Kristen - Brooms! They work without someone needing to know the force. I would LOVE to see a lightsaber in a match with a wand. Wands can however show those who have gone beyond - I haven't see a light saber do that. But apparently if you party on Endor you can see those who have passed beyond.
      October 4 at 9:02pm
    • Jim Clark As per Episode 3, you just gotta know the trick in how to come back from the dead with the force.
      October 4 at 9:04pm ·
    • Michele Nell If you think about it - with Magic you can create a Sorcerer's stone and live forever, while the Force, they just haven't figured that one out yet
      October 4 at 9:04pm ·
    • Michele Nell LOL I was typing my last comment while you were posting that Jimmy.
      October 4 at 9:05pm ·
    • Michele Nell I am still thinking House Elves tip the scale. The Force has nothing on that.
      October 4 at 9:08pm ·
    • Maddy Jackson LOL I'm all about the time travel that Herminone had, and hippogriffs...definitely awesome stuff
      October 4 at 9:09pm ·
    • Jim Clark Droids
      October 4 at 9:09pm ·
    • Michele Nell OOO Good point. Time turner - what does the Force have to counter that? I am willing to take Droids as the counter to elves since we all know that R2-D2 could fight if put into the throws of battle.
      October 4 at 9:10pm ·
    • Jim Clark R2 could kick a House Elf's butt. As proof in Return of the Jedi.

Plus HP don't have lightspeed or spaceships.
      October 4 at 9:12pm ·
    • Michele Nell I would like to see R2 take on Dobbie.
OOOO lightspeed is a very good point. But the Force doesn't have Quidditch. I would take Quidditch over pod races anyway
      October 4 at 9:13pm ·
    • Jim Clark Pod Racers suck. However the speed bikes from Jedi are faster than a broom.
      October 4 at 9:14pm ·
    • Michele Nell I spelled Dobby incorrectly - sorry
      October 4 at 9:14pm ·
    • Jim Clark Star Wars also has the whole galaxy instead of just a single planet. So there is nothing in the HP world that can't be found in the Star Wars Universe
      October 4 at 9:16pm ·
    • Michele Nell We aren't talking speed though....we are talking coolness
Ok so what about Storm Troopers vs. Inferni? Which would win?
      October 4 at 9:18pm ·
    • Michele Nell It is in a galaxy far far away. sheesh it isn't even in our galaxy
      October 4 at 9:19pm ·
    • Maddy Jackson who cares about lightspeed and spaceships when you have appiration?Sp?
      October 4 at 9:25pm ·
    • Maddy Jackson maybe hp just didn't discuess galaxies far far away because its too deep for muggle minds to grasp
      October 4 at 9:25pm ·
    • Michele Nell I am still not sold that the Force is betting than magic. I am still leaning towards the magic side.
      October 4 at 9:27pm
    • Jim Clark Then obviously Star Wars fans are smarter since such deep things are discussed.
      October 4 at 9:27pm ·
    • Maddy Jackson obviously not, since it's so trivial and lame. I mean, what exactly is jaba the hut's role, and how did he gain power when he can't move??

(I remember stuffing random crap into his underside pouch of that toy of yours thinking he was nasty)
      October 4 at 9:29pm ·
    • Michele Nell LOL I wanted to be princess Leia when I grew up and Jabba was MY toy not Jimmy's. I was given him for my birthday when I think I turned 6

Auror vs Bounty Hunter - except Bounty Hunters really are bad...
      October 4 at 9:31pm ·
    • Jim Clark We have gotten side tracked. House elves, droids, jabba and the such don't have much to do with magic or the force. We weren't talking about items or creatures.
      October 4 at 9:32pm ·
    • Maddy Jackson Who cares? What matters is people like Tonks who can change into any form they want like a duck, or a mouse, and then to completely transfigure is even more important!
      October 4 at 9:33pm ·
    • Jim Clark There are shapeshifters in star wars.
      October 4 at 9:34pm ·
    • Michele Nell Who is a shapeshifter in Star Wars?
The thing is this - Dobby has magic. Droids don't have the Force. Therefore the sake of this argument, House Elves are better than droids.
      October 4 at 9:37pm ·
    • Vickie Clifton Bowen hmmmmm...questions to ponder. I'll have to get back to you.
      October 4 at 9:39pm ·
    • Jim Clark Episode 2, the assassin that tries till kill padme at the start is one.
      October 4 at 9:39pm ·
    • Maddy Jackson dood, I need to go to BED! I'm done for now. But just remember, horcrux's are very powerful, too.
      October 4 at 9:40pm ·
    • Michele Nell Vickie- apparently those in my family have ponder this much.
Jimmy - I am going to have to check this out tomorrow night. I don't remember said part.
      October 4 at 9:40pm ·
    • Michele Nell OOO they are VERY powerful Magic maddy and I too need to go to bed. Where is Kenzie? He needs to weigh in on this discussion.
      October 4 at 9:41pm ·
    • Maddy Jackson is there a sounders game tonight, if there isn't, he's probably bouncing on the walls until there IS one... hahaha
      October 4 at 9:43pm ·
    • Jim Clark Wait, I just remembered something. Maddy, have you ever even watched Star Wars?
      October 4 at 10:30pm ·
    • Melissa True Gibbs OMG!!!!! I CAN NOT BELIEVE I JUST READ THEOUGH ALL OF THAT. YOU GUYS ARE WORSE THAN TREKIES!!!!
      Tuesday at 12:30am ·
    • Michele Nell Melissa - everyone knows the HP and SW are real happening right now while Star Trek is still in the future.
      Tuesday at 7:40am ·
    • Jim Clark No, star wars happened a long time ago
      Tuesday at 7:41am ·
    • Michele Nell the point is - Star Trek has YET to happen while the others have or are happening. Besides, Star Trek doesn't have powers. It is a regular Muggle world with no Force. It simply is.
      Tuesday at 9:18am ·
    • Maddy Jackson Well if star wars happened a long time ago they obviously made themselves and technology extinct whereas magic is inborn and can't go extinct since it can show up in even muggles out of nowhere like lilly potter!
