Rain Rain

Go away and come again some other day. Preferably when I am not walking home from church.

We actually left church early this day. Apparently Heavenly Father was not happy with our decision. The rain stopped as we walked into the house. And it was blowing from the left...obviously.

New Ward and Neighborhood

Apparently I am not going to church the right way...I need a 4-wheeler. (This was taken out my back window)

Our new ward is pretty good. It is VERY loud. The old ward had lots of new families often with no children or lots of single people because of being in an apartment. Where here they have the families and LOTS of children. There are several couples that are in their late 50's early 60's where their children have left the home but man sometimes during sacrament it is hard to hear things.
The bishop is nice and so is the RS Pres. Both have been by to meet me.
As for the neighbors, one couple stopped by and brought us fresh homemade bread. Last week they saved a seat for us at church...it is hard to get a seat. The benches are higher than any I have ever had though and very comfortable. The padding isn't worn down yet.
Anyway, we LOVE the neighborhood. Everyone is so friendly and waves as they pass by. Driving home from work I often pass golf carts on the road. There are the 4-wheelers and dirt bikes cruising around too. And I think we are the ONLY Subaru in the entire neighborhood. Rick said he has only seen one other in the county since moving here. I suggested that they were just visiting. Apparently we need a truck.
We are so very happy to have moved. This is definitely the place for us!

Gonna Need My Angry Eyes

I don't get offended very often. Today I did and let me tell you...I don't like the feeling because it also brings out hurt and even more powerfully, Anger. That's right, I am downright pissed now. (I know this is something that mostly likely will happen again in my life and I need to learn to deal with it, nevertheless, some anger in one's life from time to time I think is a good thing. Just look at the movie Enchanted. She learns about anger and ends up having a great life. Ok back to our story.) Rick and I are on the activities committee. In planning activities we are trying to incorporate several things each time into them such as fellowshipping, emergency preparedness, and genealogy. This past Tuesday we were having a cookout and wanted to use it as a fellowshipping/missionary tool. We wanted all who live in our ward boundaries to know they were welcome and invited, no matter what faith. On Sunday I asked the chair guy if the flyers were ready to go and offered to make sure they got to all of the apartments in our ward, as I live in an apartment. He emailed back around 1:30 on Monday stating the name of who was going to be delivering them and that they were unsure of the policies concerning flyers. I emailed back within 10 minutes that anything is welcome here and there is even a clip by every door. At 10:00pm that night I had still not received a flyer. I again sent an email stating this. I finally received a response today...SATURDAY. I was told "Sorry I didn't get this in time" related to the flyers being allowed. Ok I have a major issue with this. The guy emailing me is my home teacher. He knows where I live. He knows my phone number. He could have called if he really had a question about the situation. I also received an email today with:

"We didn't get them to the apartments. We got all homes in the ward though." What the hell?!?!?! Do I not have a home??? I am furious! There is a reason that the attendance/activity from the people living in the apartments is so low. We are treated as if we are an after thought. There is no chance I would ever buy a house in this ward. There is a reason I can't wait to get out of this ward. 3 years of being treated like this is long enough for anyone and the sad thing, we will probably be here another year. Maybe I should just go inactive... ;-)

Seriously...do any of you see this as being as offensive as I do?

Not Sure What to Call This

Last week while I was home I received a call from Church Headquarters. They called at 8:30 in the morning which #1 I thought as odd. They were trying to locate the address of Rick's x-wife. She has been inactive for 30+ years. The odd thing is that she had just moved the week before and we were trying to find out her address anyway. The timing of it was just odd.
So I got their number to call them back and did a few days later when I had her address. While talking with the membership clerk I found out the name of the bishop for where she lives, with Rick's 2 boys, who are not members. I called him and spoke with him...telling him that not only is she now in his ward so are 2 non-members and to feel free to try and get the missionaries to them.
The sad this is that the younger might actually be interested in learning about the Church but as long as he lives with his mom, it isn't going to happen because she won't allow it. (He is 20 years old!)
I feel all tricky tricky for giving out her address to the Church, someone she obviously did NOT want to know where she lived. I also know it was the right thing to do. =)

Mean Girls

Since I decided to already go private rather than waiting until the end of the week, I can already start positing things I wouldn't have posted before.
Today at church we took our usual bathroom break. Let me tell you, I need it as much as the kids do. So we were standing next to the drinking fountain waiting for the boys...they sure take a long time...when I overheard one little girl talking to the other. I missed the first part but I did catch, "And no body likes you so you." She then moved to be away from the girl she said this to.

Ok I remember the mean girls when I was in 5th and 6th grade but from 6 year olds...(Ok I probably was the mean girl at that age.) The girl that this was said to just took it. She didn't fight back or anything. The thing is, this is not the first time I have heard this at church! The time before though the little girl did end up crying. I think she actually had tears in her eyes once we got back to class today. I have never heard this girl say a mean thing.

Girl #1 Mean Girl
Girl #2 Other Girl

About 2 months ago I heard girl #1 tell girl #2, Stop bragging, no body cares about what you are going to do.
The sad thing is, I knot that Girl #1 has learned this from her mom. Her mom can be so nice and sweet yet she totally has a mean streak to her. (She once made one of those mean girl type comments to me...like in the movie where Regina says, Oh I love it. Then turns and starts ripping on the girls skirt.) I know she has scared me...

I just hope and pray that girl #2 knows that she is loved and that girl #1 someday learns that saying these things is not right.
