Thanksgiving #22

I may end up copying Maddy on some of my next posts because I am so far behind and she is caught up. I have to agree with her though and say I am thankful for Facebook! Without Facebook I would have many hours to spend doing other things. The thing is, I don't know what I did before Facebook any more. I love playing my stupid games like Frontierville. I love seeing what people are doing in their lives and I have to say, my friends do not spend near enough time on Facebook. I am grateful that Maddy spends every possible second on there though. I have some grand conversations with Maddy on there.
I love that people are stupid and post personal things on there so I can make fun of them. I love that people are able to get the word out and for those who need prayers said on their behalf are able to share as well.
I think Facebook is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, time killer/time waster inventions!

I have said it twice.

High School and Facebook

I had a dream about high school last night. I had to go back. Not only did i have to go back it had been about 5 years since I had graduated, others I went to school with were all there and the Jr's and Sophomores were all 5 and 6 years younger. One thing I remember was sitting on the bleachers on the west side of the football field. This was the home side. One girl who I always thought was pretty and yet nice (Josie Gay for those I went to high school with) had to do some gymnastics type thing. I don't know if she could do this in real life back then but in my dream she was struggling and I remember thinking, yeah 5 years will make us all soft. I never could do any gymnastics though. I was lucky to do a cartwheel or a somersault.
This brought back all sorts of memories this morning I thought I would share...
When I was in HS I SO wanted to be a cheerleader. Heck I wanted to be any sort of officer. I ran for office each year and never won. I could have tried out for Pep Club and probably would have made it, but I was too chicken. I wanted to be on dance company, and back then I really could dance but I was too chicken. Seriously about 10 minutes before it was my turn to try out, I went home. Just grabbed all my stuff and walked home.
My senior year I did try out for cheerleader. I made it through primaries...probably because and only because there were exactly the right amount of people trying out to make it to the finals. When we were paired up I was paired with the tallest guy. I was still one of the shorter girls but I suspect it was because I was the heaviest. Man I think back now what I thought heavy was and what I would do to weigh that little again...anyway...I didn't make it. I know that so much of this had to do with me not being able to physically do any gymnastics but I know it also had to do with popularity. I could have turned around and run for Song Leader but for some reason I decided to run for some other office and lost. My dreams of being an officer in school never happened.
My senior year I was so ticked I didn't go to anything that entire year. Not a single football game nor dance. Oh wait, I did go to homecoming, I had been asked then was stood up. I called a friend from another high school and asked him to take me since I had never been to homecoming and it was my last chance. He was cool like that.
So anyway...As some if not all of you know, I am on facebook. I have developed some awesome friendships from people from high school. I notice though, they have lots of friends on facebook from high school that I don't have. For awhile I was trying to add people I knew, but they never wrote to me or anything. I thought, maybe they really don't remember me so I stopped adding people. Since then only 2 people have asked to add me as friends.
I am wondering what people really thought in high school now. I thought I was fairly popular and well liked. That most people knew who I was. I knew who most people were and I tried to be friends but I am thinking that fewer people actually knew who I was. (This is easier to swallow than to think that people really didn't like me...and this really probably is the case.)
I realize that high school was 15 years ago and heck I don't really care what happened in my life 5 years ago let alone 15 but facebook has caused me to think about these things. I am glad I am on there because of the friendships I have from it BUT man it brings up some bad memories from time to time. I am sure glad we don't have to go back in our lives and re-live parts! That is one part I sure would skip. (I was just thinking as I tagged this of the movie Never Been Kissed. That would seriously be my biggest nightmare. I didn't get teased to my face as Josie Grosie did BUT I know people talked about me behind my back. I had one friend who actually told me some of the stuff. The point is, I sure was a lot like her in high school.)

Too Much Time On My Hands - Facebook

Obviously I happen to have too much time on my hands today. I am not sure if this is post 5 or 6 including my photography ones.
I was just thinking about facebook...
Because of facebook I am now in contact with friends from my ward, high school and even family members. I think it is a great thing. When I first joined I wanted to add everyone I knew. Then I realized that lots of these people don't even talk or say hi to me. Heck I even deleted one person once I looked him up in the year book and remembered he was a jerk! hahaha I have decided to not add anyone that shows up in the "people you might know" category anymore. I figure that I show up in theirs, why don't they add me?
Then there are the people I try to add and they ignore me. What is up with that??? I just don't get it. If someone tried to add me I would be all...dood - that person thinks highly enough of me to want to be friends. How cool is that? Of course I would add them! This has happened with several people including one of my best friends from high school. I just don't get it. Yeah he had a crush on me in high school and I was too stupid to realize it but we stayed friends for a long time. Even after he got another girl friend. Then there is my neighbor from childhood. He is gay and I can understand why he doesn't want to add me but still...is someone worked that hard to try and find me I would be, an old friend? Hell Yeah! (Don't worry I don't talk like this when teaching primary.)
Then there is the new facebook layout. I so do not like it. I can't find the games on there as easily as I used to...also the never ending movie quiz has become much harder! I am still #1 of all my friends who do have it installed and I am ranked in the top million of everyone who has it.
So if you decide to get on facebook, look me up! I will be your friend and send you things on there all the time!

Ricardo the Pool Boy

So there is this lady I have known since high school. She was in the stake young women's at the time and I really liked her. I came across her on facebook and decided to add her. Today she added me and wrote asking who was the good looking guy in the photos with me in Cancun. I told her that it was "Ricardo the Pool Boy. Isn't he a dish?" And yes I used that term. She wrote back to me telling me "Ricardo the pool boy?!?!?! He's a hunk!!! Nice work girl!" Yeah she is jealous. She actually is about the same age too. She graduated in 77 from Skyline. It makes me giggle!

Facebook

So Maddy had me get on facebook so I could stalk some people. I had to create my own profile to be able to do so...and now I am addicted. I have spent every night on there doing who knows what. Tonight it was movie quizzes. Yesterday was Harry Potter stuff. I seriously need the weather to warm up so I am not just sitting at my computer.
I have lost 2 pounds this week! Only 18 more to go by Sept 1st. I have been exercising at least every other day and have really been trying to not snack. After I get this groove going then I will probably start working on more of a diet to make sure things keep going. By the time I hit a slump with my exercise bike the weather had better be good so I can go out and play tennis and stuff like that with Rick.
This weekend is Memorial Day weekend. We are going to go to a BBQ at Scott & Pat's house but not sure that we will do anything else. The pools are open but I think it will be too cold to lay out. They were open last weekend but I didn't know.
Oh one more thing about facebook... I was able to find 3 old friends of mine. I was SO excited! They too seemed excited to be in touch with me again which is really nice.
Tomorrow I am going to get a MMR booster shot. Or prick as Wayne would say. :)
I think it is time for bed now. ~Happy Memorial Day Weekend~
