Michele and Babies

I was hanging out with some friends last night...one of which has the cutest little 5 month old. He has all sorts of hair and looks so serious. He also appeared to be a cuddle bug. I wouldn't know...I didn't hold him. It isn't that I am afraid of babies or any of that...I remembered when we got home that in reality I haven't head a child under the age of one (other than my niece Katie) in more than a year now. It isn't that I really don't want to BUT they don't like me!
Seriously...it started last year at church one day. I asked to hold a child who was 6 months old. His mom was sitting next to me and instantly - I am not talking 5 or 10 second but INSTANTLY the child started to cry. This then happened again with the next 4 or 5 babies. I don't know what it is. I used to hold babies all the time and they liked me.
Here is the thing, it isn't that these children have to be with their mommies. They go to Rick just fine. Seriously...kids love Rick. It doesn't matter what age either. They all love him. Katie would smile at Rick LONG before she smiled at me. Little Jimmy her big brother always says, HI Shel, Where's Rick? It is the standard greeting.
I really don't mind. I actually think it is kinda funny now. I know someday when I have children that I won't have problems afterall I will be the cafeteria. They will have to like me but until then, if you have children and I don't hold them, just know that it is for the well being of the child and all around...I just don't want them to start crying!

Jim's 30th Birthday

Tomorrow, July 22nd, is my younger brother Jimmy's 30th birthday. We went out to dinner with him and his family along with other friends and family last Saturday to start the celebrations. We went to Jimmy's favorite Chinese restaurant where all he has to say is, the usual. I had sesame chicken which was awesome.

Not much else has happened in the last week. Maddy is really sick in Mexico - and if you are reading this and don't know who Maddy is...she is my middle (younger) sister who is in Mexico for the summer with her husband to learn Spanish.

We had 9 children in our class on Sunday and they were all really good. Usually when we have visitors we have "problems" of kids wanting all the attention. I am so proud of them for all acting so well. On the drive home from church I told Rick, I really had a fun time today. I was just so proud of them! Which reminds me...I made cookies that morning before church and only cooked a dozen. That means I have cake batter cookie dough in the fridge I had forgotten about. YAY for an evening snack.

Little Jimmy Sleeps Over & Mother's Day

I can't believe it has almost been a week since I last wrote on my blog. Not that much has happened in the last week. Mother's Day was last Sunday. Jimmy & Carrie decided to take out our mom to dinner on Saturday night. Rick was really sick but I went with them and so did Dugan and Charlotte and so did Megan and her new boyfriend, David. My mom seemed pretty ticked about all the others tagging along. Jim & Carrie did invite her to dinner on Sunday as well with Carrie's family but she chose not to go. She chose to instead call me and try to lay the guilt trip on me that she was alone. Whatever. Rick and I went to brunch at Sharron's that morning. We had Jack, Marion (Rick's parents), Sharron, Scott, Pat and all their family there. It was very nice and VERY tasty food.

Last Thursday night little Jimmy slept over with us. He was so cute. He found all of the possible toys in our house and then wanted to wear the Jeff Gordon hat that sits in our bathroom. He thought it was cool going to the toilet in the Jeff Gordon bathroom.
At some point in time I showed Jimmy Teletubbies on my computer. So whenever he comes over he wants to watch "Tubbies". I pulled up a few shows on demand for him to watch. Then he wanted to eat tubby toast and tubby custard. I did have the "tubby custard" for him.

I took him over to the park and he wanted to climb the climbing wall. Yes that is me having to take the picture higher than my head. He got about this high and then said, Help me please. I helped him get to the top but the problem is there is nothing there. I couldn't reach high enough to help him get over the wall and come down the other side. That kid is fearless.
So anyway, we had a great time with him. Not much else has been going on this week. Rick and I are both ready for the weekend and being able to just chill in the warmth. We did rent a storage unit this week. I guess that is new and exciting. We had 14 bags of wheat delivered last Friday and needed somewhere to put it. So I cleaned out our storage and we moved all of our Christmas stuff, bags and suitcases to a storage unit. I am trying to figure out what else I can move there so that we have more room and don't feel so cramped.
I was able to sell a golf bag Rick won this week and I am thinking about selling out extra vacuum. It doesn't suck up my hair so it is pretty much useless to us. If anyone needs a vacuum, let me know, we would be happy to give it to a family member.
So there you go....
