December 2010

I wish I had something to post about but I don't. I have been way too busy with work the past two weeks. The good news, I don't have to work again the rest of the year!

Company Party

As I mentioned we have been really busy - Last week was my company party. I pretty much planned and purchased everything all by myself. It was fun though. I am glad it is over with. It sure wore me out. Apparently people had a good time though and that is what mattered!

Random Thoughts

I was doing a bit of figuring out all the things my Google account can do, including showing me a quick way to check on my blog stalking when I came across this list. I think that it is great. I have add my own comments in red.

1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die. (There is more to it than just deleting. I suggest crashing the entire hard drive and even then you aren't 100% safe)

2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong. (But you always keep fighting!)

3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

4. There is great need for a sarcasm font. (Most everything I type is in this font so just assume it is sarcastic)

5. How the heck are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet? (I learned how to do this on Martha Stewart. I am pretty dang good at it too now. this however is not sarcasm but truth.)

6. Was learning cursive really necessary? (Nope)

7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died. (AMEN)

9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired. (fortunately this isn't really how I feel)

10. Bad decisions make good stories. (Hahaha they sure do)

11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day (Apparently it struck already today)

12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again. (Agreed)

13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page research paper to which I swear I did not make any changes. (ALWAYS save, just in case)

14. "Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this—ever.

15. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Dang it!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?

16. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste. (Then again I do NOT leave my house without makeup. The day i do, I will see someone who I never wanted to see me without makeup. There is a previous blog about this but it was during my non-tagging time so I am not going to find it.)

17. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call. (They are labeled with DO NOT ANSWER)

18. My 4-year old son asked me in the car the other day "Dad what
would happen if you ran over a ninja?" How the heck do I respond to that?

19. I think the freezer deserves a light as well. (Mine however DOES have a light even if it isn't and LED light)

20. I told gave my daughter the job of mating socks the other day. She looked at me with worry in her eyes and said, “But mom, what will we do if we end up with a whole bunch of baby socks?”

Hand Model

We have had some entertainment around work lately. I unfortunately missed out on many of the great photo ops with our new employee. I was however able to be a hand model in one of the photos. For all the shots and some explanation, I recommend checking out Dug's Blog.
I highly recommend reading his blog about foist as well.
Yeah we are the ones out there trying to create programs to protect YOUR children from predators and pornography on the internet.

Twilight - Rick's Thoughts

Rick bought me Twilight for my birthday. Since then we have watched it twice together. Both times he wanted to watch it. (I have watched it one or two times besides the ones with him.) He also asked me to get the book from the library for him. He read it in 4 days. That is about how long it took me!

Rick calls me every night on his way home from work. It is a nice time to just chat with nothing else going on. It is a good time for him to decompress and get all he wants to about work out so by the time he gets home we don't have to deal with work and can just have time together. Last night he called me and right off the bat he wanted to talk Twilight. Here is generally how our conversation went:

Rick "So talking about the book versus the movie, (He assumed I knew what he was talking about even though it took me a moment.) I like to think of myself as Edward but not being a Vampire, but I like to think we have a good relationship like they do. Do you think they showed the passion and love they have for each other in the movie?"

Michele "No I really don't. And you know, when I read the book I thought of us as being Bella and Edward. But dood, you need the car."

Rick "So you really think we have passion like that?"

Michele "Yes I do. I think that we are both so deeply in love with each other."

Rick "I am glad cause I do too. It isn't just a I want to have sex with you love either."

Michele "You are right, it isn't lust but it is a deep passion. Unconditional love."

Rick "Yeah! So I need a new car, but I want it to have the shift paddles on the steering wheel. Think Volvo does that?"

Here is where the conversation went on to discuss cars and other things. We did discuss in the movie that Edward needs to show how much he loves Bella more. That there are a few scenes in the movie where he looks happy and like he wants to be with her and those are great.

The point is...I have such an awesome husband! He is totally a romantic. He is into the Twilight series as much as I am and he wants to make sure we have that type of passion between us, even if it is fictional and sometimes people don't think that it is real.
Let me tell you, passion like that is REAL and it is ALIVE between Rick and me!

Things I am Working On

I decided to share with my fans the list of things I am currently working on. Some are large projects others are things that need to be done by the end of the week. The problem with much of this is that I am supposed to be at work from 8:30 until about 5:00 every weekday. Then additionally I am exhausted so I have been going to bed by 9:00 pm. I cook dinner and spend time helping Rick hold down the couch too cause I have no energy after to do anything. Maybe that is why these things make me feel like I have so much to do.

Credit Reports - Rick and I found a bunch in inaccuracies and sent in disputes. These have now come back but I have not sorted through all of them to find out if everything is fixed now. This is something I need to do this week.

Filing - I have a box of papers that needs to be filed. It was supposed to be done last weekend. Guess it gets pushed to this weekend as a deadline.

Scrapbooking - My general photos - This is a large scale project which I really don't want to last forever. I am trying to not only put my photos into electronic and pdf scrapbook pages but I want to make videos.

Scrapbooking - Genealogy -As part of my genealogy I have been working on collecting family/personal histories and photos. I want to compile these electronically so that I can share them with my other family members and so no one has to re-do the information again.

Quilting - Of course I had to start something new. Not having a sewing machine of my own will slow this down and probably make it so I don't keep up on it as much as I could/should/want to

Knitting - I started a blanket 3 years ago. Yes 3 years ago and it still isn't done. I am happy when I get 5 rows done a week.

Cross Stitching - I have a project I started when I went to England...8 1/2 years ago!! Let's not even talk about this one.

Exercising - I try to get out and play tennis as much as possible with Rick. Right now the weather is superb and so we cram in as much as we can before it is too wet.

5 year Budget/Spreadsheet for work - Yes this is what I shoudl be working on right now. I am in charge of putting together the 5 year budget for our big Talisman project. (1800 acres with an 18 hole private golf course on the south side of the Jordanelle Reservoir.) Obviously I am not into it. I have all the data from different pro formas I have put together for it over the last year and a half but finally I am to put it all into one location and it is to be set in stone.

Read - I just always need to be reading something and learning something. This goes along with Scripture reading too but doesn't count towards the general learning.

I can't believe I almost forgot...Wash my hair. This is an undertaking in itself which must be done at least twice a week!

I think those are the things I feel that are on my plate right now. Really it isn't too bad. This work thing just seems to get in the way of my life and the things that I really need to do.

A Quiet Monday Morning

Here is it Monday morning at work. It is 9:45 and the phone hasn't even rung yet. There is only one other person here. I have been playing the never ending movie quiz on facebook this morning. I have over 10,000 points. I have a goal to catch up with Walt before the end of next week. I think he has 18,000 points.
I don't think anyone reads my blog other than Maddy. That is fine because someday I can just print it off and put it in my journal. I guess my life is just too boring. =)
For those of you that do read...post a comment here or there!
