Day 13

I really had every intention of staying up to date on these but I haven't even been on my own computer in almost 2 weeks and that is where my photos live. I made it tonight so I am going to try and get caught up quickly.

A photo of my best friend(s) Wayne & Rick
For those of you that don't know - Wayne is my internet buddy. We have been friends for something like 9 or 10 years now. We have been able to have our families travel to spots together twice now and hope to be able to do it again. He was my friend when I started dating Rick and know all of my secrets from dating.
Then of course there is Rick and we all know how in love with him I am. They make a great team tolerating my crazies!

Thanksgiving #27

I probably won't have a chance to post tomorrow so I am doing it now. For my 27th Thankful post I am Thankful for Mr Flypaper and the day of his birth.

I am so thankful him and all the joy he brings to my life. Rick does so many things for me and is willing to put up with my craziness. He makes me laugh ALL the time. He has helped me become the person I am. I am so thankful for the love he brings to my life.

A Father's Day Gift (or two, or three)

Today is Father's Day. I was at Best Buy about a week or so ago buying a memory stick for my digital photo frame when I came across the first season of Burn Notice on DVD. Not only did they have it, it was on sale for about 25% of the original price. I have never bought a TV series on DVD before but seriously for that price, I couldn't pass it up. I thought, oh I can buy this because Father's Day is coming. Then I thought, well Rick will probably want something more for him...so I found The Italian Job on Blue-Ray also on sale for a very reasonable price.
I got home and messed around with the card for a few days and wasn't able to get it to work. So of course I had to go back to the store. Well by then Guitar Hero had come out. Of course I had to buy it!
So this afternoon I gave Rick his Father's Day gifts. When he opened the first, Burn Notice, he said, is this for me or for you? Then as he was opening up the second gift he said, you didn't need to get me anything. I let him know that I was happy to get him gifts. He finished opening Guitar Hero and said, oh is this for you? He was teasing me as he knows very well that yes I wanted both of those BUT he appreciates the gifts.
Rick is so incredible and wonderful. I look forward to the day when we will have a child of our own and he will be able to be a father again. I would say
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY RICK
but he doesn't read my blog.

Twilight - Rick's Thoughts

Rick bought me Twilight for my birthday. Since then we have watched it twice together. Both times he wanted to watch it. (I have watched it one or two times besides the ones with him.) He also asked me to get the book from the library for him. He read it in 4 days. That is about how long it took me!

Rick calls me every night on his way home from work. It is a nice time to just chat with nothing else going on. It is a good time for him to decompress and get all he wants to about work out so by the time he gets home we don't have to deal with work and can just have time together. Last night he called me and right off the bat he wanted to talk Twilight. Here is generally how our conversation went:

Rick "So talking about the book versus the movie, (He assumed I knew what he was talking about even though it took me a moment.) I like to think of myself as Edward but not being a Vampire, but I like to think we have a good relationship like they do. Do you think they showed the passion and love they have for each other in the movie?"

Michele "No I really don't. And you know, when I read the book I thought of us as being Bella and Edward. But dood, you need the car."

Rick "So you really think we have passion like that?"

Michele "Yes I do. I think that we are both so deeply in love with each other."

Rick "I am glad cause I do too. It isn't just a I want to have sex with you love either."

Michele "You are right, it isn't lust but it is a deep passion. Unconditional love."

Rick "Yeah! So I need a new car, but I want it to have the shift paddles on the steering wheel. Think Volvo does that?"

Here is where the conversation went on to discuss cars and other things. We did discuss in the movie that Edward needs to show how much he loves Bella more. That there are a few scenes in the movie where he looks happy and like he wants to be with her and those are great.

The point is...I have such an awesome husband! He is totally a romantic. He is into the Twilight series as much as I am and he wants to make sure we have that type of passion between us, even if it is fictional and sometimes people don't think that it is real.
Let me tell you, passion like that is REAL and it is ALIVE between Rick and me!

My Favorite Martian

I am so lucky to be living with this...

I Fell Off the Wagon ~ Or Maybe I Have Actually Been Busy

I haven't been as good lately as I used to be at posting. Or maybe I am actually better because I am not posting like 3-5-10 times a day!

We have had a lot of things going on here over the last two months and over the last week or two I have gotten to the point where I have just felt like watching tv at night rather than anything else. I still read some of my friends blogs, but admittedly not all of them anymore. I guess one could call this depression where I lose interest in the things I like to do. Probably. But don't worry, it is nothing that I am going to wallow in or really even discuss publically. Yes that was a ramble...

ANYWAY~ I have a few fun photos to post and shareOn this past Sunday we celebrated our next to the youngest great nephew's birthday. Tucker turned 2 and he had all sort of Choo Choos I crack myself up!

(His baby brother is the youngest who turned 2 months old the day before). It was a fun Sunday afternoon hanging out with Rick's young brother's family. One of which is our youngest Nell niece who will be 17 in January. She reminds us of Violet in The Incredibles. She wears her hair the same and she even talks like she. She looked up a little too late to realize I was taking her photo.

Happy Birthday Rick ~ Happy Thanksgiving

As most of you know, Rick's birthday was on Thanksgiving this year. I made a chocolate pudding pie from scratch...which for those of you that don't know it means I mixed sugar and starch and egg yolks to make my own pudding then added melted chocolate. It was incredible. I am not a rich chocolate fan and that is what this was. But those who are, told me it was incredible. I also made a cake. A turkey cake.
Notice the arm trying to hold back the wild hoard from blowing out the candles themselves? This was actually only the second thing I have ever decorated using icing tips and all that. I am very proud of how it turned out.
We went to Rick's sister's for dinner and had a great time. We had our 3 nieces, their husbands and their wild bunch of boys and one princess, each and every one we love! I was able to spend some time with the 2 year old and practice putting on lip gloss. When then went by Rick's parents house and hung out with them for a bit. Actually it is more like sitting and chatting with them. 85 year olds don't really hang out.
My aunt and cousin drove in from Kansas and we will probably see her along with my cousin who is going to BYU tonight.
Rick and I hope that everyone had a fun and happy Thanksgiving!

Looking for Employment

Many of you who read my blog already know this but many don't; Rick was laid off last week. I have decided to help him with networking as much as I can that they is what I am doing on here. If you have a good head hunter or know of any jobs out there related to Human Resources, or Operations Management. (I can always send you Rick's resume if you would like.) Any thoughts or connections you might have would be greatly appreciated and we do pray that all of you continue to have employment in your homes.

Up Date on Husband Tag

I was asked...when I first told Rick I loved him...gotta admit, I don't remember. I am thinking it was 3 weeks later. I will have to ask him cause he remembers that kind of stuff. We have a "dispute" about our first kiss. I will tell you this, I totally remember when and where he proposed to me. I think he remembers the exact time though.
As for color blindness...yeah it is cool and sad...my sisters and I used to tease him. One would say the correct color while the other two didn't. Thing is that he never knew which one of us was telling the truth. He can see light and dark. He knows when something is yellow. My favorite is this though...when I am wearing pink he thinks, hmm that looks grey, then the thinks, Michele doesn't wear grey therefore, it is pink.
He LOVES patterns. He picks them out better than anyone I have ever known. It is really rare that you will see Rick in a shirt that is NOT a pattern...

Ricky Sticky

I don't think Rick knows that everyone I know, knows his nick name is Ricky Sticky (Did you track that?) He probably wouldn't be so happy if he knew so for my safety, please don't call him Ricky Sticky to his face.
Rick pretty much does all the house work around here. I cook and that is about it. Tonight the Paparazzi caught him cleaning up dinner.I was thinking that it would be cool to do a blog with all the photos I have of Rick's hand in front of his face. The only problem is that they are on various discs. (I don't have an external hard drive and since my itunes takes up 37% of my hard drive, I have to put my photos on discs. Today I was down to 181MB on my hard drive...but this is all for another day. We are talking about Rick and the paparazzi.)
A few months ago my step mom asked me to get a photo of Rick without him making a face or putting his hand in it. She said, I don't think I have ever seen a normal photo of him. It sure made me laugh. Yes I have them, BUT they are few and far between. I wouldn't trade my camera shy house cleaning Rick for anyone!

Flypaper - What's In The Name? PART DEUX

Since Monica happens to be the only one to comment on this blog and want to know what is up with the name, she is the only one that can read this blog. hahaha

We all have nicknames in life. My grandpa used to call me Shelly-o-nee (At least that is it phonetically.) Marissa = Rissy= Pissy Rissy or Rissa = Rashes. Maddy = Poco
Rick's family had them too. For the 3 younger boys there were/are Cory = Cory-ory-um-phan-tree, Scott = Scotty Tissue and last but not least Rick= Ricky Sticky Flypaper.

Shelly-o-nee is just lame for using when setting things up like a blog name. Somewhere along the line Rick and I call me Mrs. Flypaper. (That is my name on my PS3 if any of you want to find and add me. I have an awesome icon of a little fly.)

The rs in our domain techinically stands for Rick and Shel Flypaper but it could always be ricky sticky.

So there is the explaination...this comes from this and that comes from that...Greek. The root of all words are greek. (Yes I watched my Big Fat Greek Wedding just last week.)

Our Engagement

I decided to continue my story of Rick's and my meeting and "hooking up."
Rick and I started officially dating on Valentine's Day 2008. By May and probably even by April we knew we wanted to get married. I picked out my ring, cause Rick is cool like that in May. Rick I think had it in his possession in June. I figured that he was going to ask me sometime during the month of July.
So July 1st we had a long weekend with the 4th of July being on a Sunday. We had decided to go to Logan with Jimmy and Carrie to watch fireworks with Carrie's family at Utah State. Rick and I were driving up alone and Rick said that he needed to stop by the visitor's center at Temple square to pick up some pamphlets for home teaching. I thought, well uh, ok. We parked at Crossroads and walked to the north visitor's center. Rick got what he "needed" and we headed back out. As we were passing the big flower box in the middle somewhat north of the Temple Rick stopped to put the stuff away in his bag and whatever. I sat down on the wall of the flower box. Rick then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Now I will be honest, I used to remember exactly what he said but right now, I am not positive if he said, "Will you marry me?" or "Will you be my wife?" NO WAIT!!!
He was down on his knee and handed me a card. In it, it said something about a ring, like give me a ring sometime...he wrote in it "Look up" I looked up and that is when he was holding the box with my ring and was on his knee. I still don't remember what he said but of course I said yes and put out my hand for him. He slide my ring on, we kissed and hugged and all was good. I happened to see a couple walking past us watching and smiling. I thought it was great that a couple was able to see us and share our moment even though I have no idea who they were.
I will always remember exactly the spot where Rick proposed. It also happened to be across from a drinking fountain which was designed from my grandpa's tie-tack.
Rick and I headed back to the car then headed to Logan. We watched the fireworks from across the street from the stadium and had a great time with family. I didn't mention being engaged when we first got there but someone noticed my ring and from then on everyone knew. It was a great way to celebrate the 4th.

Check back later for photos as they are at home and I am at work.
