Bacon
mmmm, Bacon!
I am Building an Ark
This June has been incredibly rainy. I don't personally remember it raining so many days in a row as it has this year. I think it has to be close to every day for a week or 10 days now. It has created wonderful puddles for me to drive through. I am not the only one doing it either. Seriously, there was one guy waiting for me to get in my car the other day so he could hit one of the puddles. He had a great running start, well driving as the case may be, and it splashed all over.
One of the evenings we had an incredible thunder storm going on with all the rain. (There hasn't been thunder and lightening in every storm, but many of them.) I tried to catch the thunder on "tape" but since I used my small camera rather than my video camera it didn't pick up the sound as well as I would have liked. Nevertheless, my video will give those who haven't been here to experience the rain, a good feeling for what has been going on lately. For those of you in the northwest, deep south or England, I know you get storms with rain like this but it is just not common in our part of the desert.

Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House
It is so much like other Temples, in being so incredibly beautiful and yet so different as it has been individualized to reflect the area. I look forward to experiencing the blessing of the Temple there.

Just A Quickie
Not much else is going on for us. Just adjusting to not being able to play Guitar Hero all morning with Rick and then spending 10 hours on facebook farming. ha ha
It was time for me to start a job though...I had watch That 70's Show through at least 3 full time (yes the entire series) I had watch Sabrina the Teenage Witch through almost twice and I had almost watched Full House's entire series through.
We have all sorts of frivolities going on this weekend so hopefully I will have fun photos to post then.

Enrichment aka Homemaking
Let me tell everyone upfront, I do not like enrichment, homemaking or whatever you want to call it. (For those of you who may not know, in the LDS Church women get together ~ in my ward it is 4 times a year~ to "enrich" themselves and others.) I have always figured that if I needed to know something or learn to do something I would find it online, in a book or call a friend who could teach me then and there rather than waiting for someone in the ward to come up with the idea. Additionally, in the past I would much rather have my evenings to myself rather than spending it at the church.
With all that said, I am on the enrichment committee and last month we had an awesome activity.

Since I am on the committee, I was able to help paint the cows. The lady in charge is so talented and came up with all of the ideas. Additionally, I am the one who prepared all the food. It was fun to put that together and see the fruits of my labors enjoyed so well.
I suppose in the end, I am going to have to check out enrichment again.

A Picnic in the Park
We went to Draper Historic Park. It is a really cute park on 900 east and about 12550 south in Draper. I figured that as long as we live here we need to enjoy what the "city" has to offer. We were able to use the jean quilt I made for the first time.
After eating our lunch made by Quiznos, we went for a little walk around the park. I unfortunately left my camera plugged into the computer the night before and had run down the battery so I was only able to take a few quick photos before the battery totally died. Nevertheless, you can see why I find this park so cute. Rick and I both have ancestors who lived in Draper during it's early days as pioneers. It was fun to be able to think about them possibly walking around in the same park as we were.
Apparently they have concerts in the park every Monday evening so if anyone ever wants to go with me, let me know and we shall see what we can do.
Edward
Even though I enjoy Edward in the book, I don't find Robert Pattinson uber attractive. Only when he smiles, and then I really do find him somewhat attractive....
Until I saw this:
Pictured is San Giminano
To get to San Giminano one has to drive up a small winding road and it is surrounded by a city wall. It had small narrow roads, just as what Edward could be hiding down in the above photo.I am so excited for New Moon to come out. I enjoyed the book much more the second time and I still want to kick Jacob's hiney. And seeing Edward on a side road in Italy would be much more *sigh* fun hehehe than having my pansy ass boyfriend who wouldn't even stand next to me in photos while in Italy with me.

Pictured above is me in Spoleto Umbria with our "touring group" and my boyfriend at the time. He was angry because I spoke Italian and he did not making it easy for me to chat up the boys. Not that any of them could give Edward a run for his money.
Back to the topic I started with, Robert Pattinson is a hottie afterall!

Despair
I appreciate the words of encouragement that come from my friends to remind me that Heavenly Father always knows of my needs, wants and desires and that he will never forget me. But please don't fret and worry that I am not aware of this. Even on my most horrible days, that feeling of being alone just doesn't happen to me. This is probably due to a combination of things such as knowing I have friends who care so very much for me, and a husband who would do anything in the world for me, including laying down his life if that is what it took. But even before this, through all the trials I have been through every single day I am able to look at my life and know how blessed I am and that I am grateful for it. Anything else that comes along, well that is just a bonus.

Memorial Day Weekend
I love Memorial Day. I always have. I grew up within a few blocks of the Salt Lake Cemetery. Every Memorial Day we went and visited the graves of my great-grandma, Mary Jane and my aunt, Kathy. (My aunt was hit by a car 3 days before my mom turned 14.) Now we have my grandparents right there and so many other relatives I know about including Rick's grandparents.
Cemeteries have never been creepy or anything like that for me because of that. In fact, I really like them. I have all sorts of photos of cemeteries in New Orleans and England. I have dragged Rick all over the Salt Lake Valley taking photos of headstones. And one of my favorite places in all of Park City is an old cemetery that is tucked away next to the ski resort.
I feel bad living in apartment and not having flowers I can pick to take to the cemetery for Memorial Day. I miss going out into the yard and picking handfuls of lilies of the valley or cutting snowballs from the trees to put on my family's graves.
I do love thinking of all of the stories I know about these ancestors. All of the trials and suffering they went through for me. I like even more the stories that make me laugh. That show me how real these people were, not just names and dates.
Not only do I like the cemetery and thinking of ancestors, let us not forget the most important part:
