A Cousin's Wedding

Memorial Day weekend Saturday, we spent in at my cousin Alex's wedding. My aunt and cousins from another state made the trek to town for her son's wedding. It was great to see them. My brother and Rick has lost a lot of weight and need new suits. Their pants look like they are wearing their dad's suits. The little ones loved playing in the water. My beautiful cousin Aimee is always fun to chat with.It was a long day but of course we had some fun.

Mr. and Mrs. Flypaper

Everyday is a party when we are involved!

The Backside

We decided to go the back way to our destination on Saturday. Sure we have all seen the front side of these mountains, but how many have see what is on the other side?I can tell you this, the grass might not be greener but there sure aren't as many people.

Memorial Day

Our Memorial Day Weekend was full of family. Lots and Lots of family - well at least on Saturday. Come Monday, we needed some time to hang out at home and that is just what we did.
That morning we played tennis for the first time this season and the first time in our new neighborhood. We hit pay dirt when it comes to tennis courts. The local high school is just finishing up their first first year of school. They have AWESOME tennis courts only minutes from our home. They even have bleachers for our adoring fans. This will be our home away from home Saturday mornings for the rest of the summer.
Later that morning we planted our garden. Nothing big but we have a pumpkin, 2 tomatoes and lots of peas. I didn't want to plan too much since we still need to put in the sprinkler system this summer. The rest of the day was spent hanging out watching tv and BBQing. It was our first dinner on our patio. We may not have made it to the cemetery but as most of you know, I frequent the cemetery on more than an annual basis.

Hand Model

We have had some entertainment around work lately. I unfortunately missed out on many of the great photo ops with our new employee. I was however able to be a hand model in one of the photos. For all the shots and some explanation, I recommend checking out Dug's Blog.
I highly recommend reading his blog about foist as well.
Yeah we are the ones out there trying to create programs to protect YOUR children from predators and pornography on the internet.

Closest Retail

I was able to catch this as we came around the corner. The closest retail to me is this little strip mall. There is a pizza place here that is awesome. The Kraver's place has ok food but TERRIBLE shakes. They had no flavor. But sometimes something is better than driving 5 miles to go to McDonald's, the next closest food.

Saturday Drive

After dinner on Saturday we went for a drive down the road next to Virg's. We found the local airport. (All photos were taken out the windows of the car while the car was moving. I was not driving)We saw some children riding 4-wheelers, with no helmets or parents. I guess when you start riding at 2 you learn how to drive them.
The view was so very pretty. This is the view I get when driving to the grocery store now.

We also found the LDS Welfare farm out this way.

Virg's The Original

Some of you might have noticed the Virg's restaurant in Taylorsville in the Frontier Pies old building (south of the Old Spaghetti Factory). Well Saturday night we went to the first Virg's. It is just down the road from us...a few miles. I had to take some photos of the place. All cover ops style. The food was decent but I wouldn't call it great. It was really inexpensive for TONS of it. I bet breakfast is great there. They server it all day.
There is a drive-in across the street. I am gonna be checking it out this summer. ;-) Across the street to the south is some beef jerkey place. Apparently it is really good but I don't like jerkey - yes I did try it. Next time I am down that way I will grab a photo of the sign that talks about where to take your meat for processing.

Picture Picture

We finally hung up most of our pictures. There are a few left but most are on the walls. We still plan to paint some accent walls but having the pictures up sure make things feel cozier. I am open to suggestions for color and on what walls. Just drop me a comment.

Above are the views from my bed. Then we have our front door and guest room.

The guest room's artwork is all from Italy. As are most of the object d'art on the dresser.

Our guest bathroom has prints of homes from Natchez Mississippi.
Then we have the loft and across from it the laundry room and closet.

Hooters and White Crusty Stuff

Ok they really aren't hooters, they are rocks but we call the hooters and we have a lot of big 'uns.
Rick found all of these in one day. If anyone needs some rocks for their landscaping, you are welcome to come and get some. They breed every time it rains.

The other lovely thing we have out here...calcium/salt in the soil. Oh heck we don't have soil, we have dirt. The first time we saw the crust of whiteness we weren't sure if it was frost.

Alas, it is not. It is salt build up We are going to have to add a lot of acid to help bring down the pH before we can really grow anything other than grass.

(We are bringing in top soil first)

Workin' on the Patio

We decided to buy cement pavers and create our own back patio. In just a few hours, Rick doubled the size of what was existing.

Someday we will pour cement and put on a cover but until then I have my big stud putting in a patio for me.

When I came home from work tonight there was another row added.

Dinner

My house isn't always clean. In fact when I cook, it is usually a mess.
