Thanksgiving #13

I am so grateful for our new home. As most everyone knows, we had it built earlier this year. I can't believe it has already been just over 7 months since we moved in here. Contrary to what some people may think, we made quite a few major upgrades on the structure of our home to make it our place. We had some neighbors by on Halloween looking inside and said they couldn't believe some of the stuff we had done to make it so open - they have the same model. One of my favorite things is our yellow exterior. I love our yellow house with the blue door.

I am so thankful that we have a warm comfortable place to hang out.

Fun Photo

I am looking through my photos to find 3 I want to use for a project on Saturday when I saw this one of my family. We are missing a few people but it is still one of my all time favorites. I just love the personalities coming out.

Thanksgiving #11

I have a really cool blog with a slide show, somewhere but I can't remember where because I didn't label it very well. Today I am thankful to all of those who have served in the Military to protect my home and freedom. I have family members who fought in the Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWI, WWII and even a nephew who is being sent to Afganistan next year. Here are a few of my favorite veterans

My grandpas who fought in WWII based in England

Rick's dad who fought in WWII based in the Pacific Rim Rick's uncles Bob and Jim - Jim survived Pearl Harbor to fight another day and their family who stood behind having all three sons serve in WWII
Thank you for all those who serve in the Military to protect our Promised land.

Thanksgiving #10

Today I am thankful for my sister Maddy! Yep - That's you Maddy! She is my best friend. I love being able to talk with her about everything. She entertains me constantly but especially when she isn't working. Summer and days off school are my fav. I wish she lived closer to me but I am so proud of her getting away too.
I know we look SOOO much alike. And yes, she is that much taller than I am.
This photo totally shows Maddy's attitude. "Uh, yeah, whatever"It makes me giggle.
Yes I sure love my sister Maddy!

Thankful #9

Today was easy - I am Thankful for my Aunt and her birthday today.

My earliest memory is of her. I don't remember what it is right now but one of the ones I do remember is being in the basement of my grandparents home and her holding me. She was a teenager when I was born and I know she played with me all the time. Now I email with her all day long while we are both at work and often end up chatting in the evening for hours. I am always able to talk with her about things and she makes me laugh.
I have so many wonderful memories of her, including her going on trips with my family and then later me going on trips with her family to baby sit her children. I was even able to help out when her last child was born.
I wish my aunt lived in Utah but I am so glad as we have discussed before for the Internet. It makes staying in touch with her so easy.
So on this 9th of November, I am thankful my grandma gave birth to my Auntie.

Thankfulness #8

Today I am thankful for my Subaru. It protects me and helps transport me all over the place. I have had my car for 6.5 years. It is so nice to be in a car that I know can get me through the snow when it starts. It has taken me to California and St. George countless times. And now it gets to park in my warm safe garage, which I am sure it appreciates.

TV

I was just scrolling through my recent blogs and noticed that quite a few are about TV and TV related items. Yep, I am indulgent with my TV time and it must be getting colder and darker outside because I am watching more and more.

Thankful #7

I was too busy enjoying my #7 to blog about it yesterday. For my day #7 I am thankful for my DVR and On Demand. I think it was one of the greatest tv inventions either, after cable of course. Ok they are really two separate things but they work basically the same way. Without the DVR I wouldn't be able to record my shows and watch them with Mr Flypaper on the weekend. We wouldn't be able to watch all of our sports either. I think only 2-3 times have we watched a NASCAR race in it's entirety this season thanks to the DVR. Then there is On Demand, I have watched an entire Showtime series On Demand recently. It is great to know most of the shows I watch are on there too.
Thank you DVR and On Demand Gods for making my life so fun and easy.

Thanksgiving #6

Today I am grateful indoor plumbing and hot water heaters. I am so glad I live in this day and age. I know in the past woman had long hair and didn't have the facilities I do. Well let me tell you, I would have had short hair. I washed my hair once when it was very long while at camp in the cold water from the pump. It was terrible. I am so happy I don't have to go to the bathroom outside. Yeah that would be a big problem. When I was in Italy we went to San Gimignano (I know there is a blog somewhere on here about it) and we went to the bathroom - squatting over a hole! I will never forget the experience.

Then there are the dishes and laundry - what would I do without indoor plumbing to take care of them? (Ok I wouldn't be so worried because the Rickster does all the laundry and dishes anyway. hehehe)

In the end though, I know that God knew what he was doing by making sure I wasn't sent to earth until there was indoor plumbing and water heaters.

Thanksgiving #5

Today I decided to wait a little bit later in the day to see if anything happened throughout the for which I should be grateful. Well as I have been sitting on my behind at my computer playing my games 2 great movies have been on TV - So tonight I am Thankful for Cable TV. It enriches my life. I am able to watch movies such as Talladega Nights and Night at the Roxbury, or things like How It's Made. I am turn my brain off and just be entertained for hours on end or I can actually learn something. It also keeps me from being lonely at night and I know it helps Rick during the day. Tomorrow we will be able to watch Soccer (GO ReAL!) and Football (GO Utes), while still getting things done at home. Yep, I sure am grateful for TV and we will save the DVR for another thankful blog. (It deserves it's own.)

Yes I am noticing that I indulge in things many people try limit in their lives - It's good to be me!

Thanksgiving Day #4

Today I am grateful for my neighborhood. I am so happy we chose to move there. I don't like having to drive so far for everything - the nearest grocery store is literally 10 miles one way (I measured it last night) but I love living by so many other cool things. What are they you might ask, well let me tell you...
A Fresh Water Lake
A Golf Course
A Swimming Pool
Brand New Tennis Courts (thanks to the new high school)
An Observatory
Lots of parks

My home is out on the edge in the undeveloped area ;-)

I don't know what to be Thankful for today. It isn't that I am not thankful for lots of things but I am trying to decide what I like best today. hhhhmmm I know... NAPS! I had a wonderful nap during lunch today. I get them most days but some days are better than others. Today was one of those really good ones.

Yep, I am thankful for naps.

Thanksgiving Day #2

Today I am thankful for the opportunity to vote. I remember in elementary school watching the adults come in to vote each November. I thought it was so cool. When I turned 18 one of the first things I did was register to vote. I didn't even think twice about it. It was just something you do just as much as when you turn 16 you get your driver's license. The last few years there hasn't been that much riding on the voting in our old neck of the woods. I don't think I even voted last year. But when we moved, one of the first things I did was make sure we were registered. This morning I went and voted before work. I didn't want to have the excuse after work that "it was too crowded". So with that, i am thankful to live in the country I do and have the ability to vote. I am thankful that there are no dangers for me when I go to vote. And most of all, I am thankful that I was able to vote for the guy with the big ten gallon hat!

I am Thankful for.... Day #1

I am stealing this idea from someone whom I totally admire. She is posting something she is thankful for each day and I thought I would do the same this month. Some days it might be something profound and deep. Other days it may be something that just makes it so I am able to survive life.
Today I am thankful for the Internet. I am so grateful I am able to be in touch with family members who move away...You KNOW who you are!...family members who I lost touch with due to others choices and all of my friends. I am 100% addicted to the internet and have no problem admitting it and have absolutely no desire to try and cut back the time I am on here. I am not the most social when it comes to being in person, but I sure love my social interaction on the interwebs.
