Go away and come again some other day. Preferably when I am not walking home from church.

We actually left church early this day. Apparently Heavenly Father was not happy with our decision. The rain stopped as we walked into the house. And it was blowing from the left...obviously.

Night at the Drive-In

We decided to go to our local Drive-In.
It was SOOOO much fun. When I became restless, like I always do during a movie, I just moved from my chair to the back of the car and then back again. We saw Knight and Day, a great movie I might add. The second movie was Eclipse. We really wanted to stay but it was already 11:30 and we had to get up the next morning to pick up our Bountiful Basket at 6:30. Our Drive In doesn't show rated R movies. We got their about an hour early so we could get a good spot. We took books so we could just chill and read for a bit. I didn't get much reading done because I was too busy checking things out.

They change movies every week. Sometimes a movie is there for 2 weeks but never at the same time. It gives it a nice mixture. I hope we are able to go again this summer. The place had a ton of people so I assume it is like that all the time and that they will be in business for awhile to come.

Bountiful Basket #2

I have only purchased 2 Bountiful Baskets They are only available in my area every 2 weeks and last week we decided not to purchase one. We are throwing out a ton of food really. Reason #1 cause it is just too much for only 2 of us. reason #2 there is some stuff we just won't eat.
For our second week this is what we received:
2 heads romaine lettuce
1 watermelon
6 plums
7 peaches
1 brocliflower
2 English cucumbers
1 bag Yukon gold taters
1 back black seedless grapes
bananas
2 tomatoes
6 ears corn
and a pineapple

Of the things we did eat, they were great! Again though, I wish they did local.

Summer Storm

We have had one storm after another lately. I think it was last weekend we were driving home and saw this down the street....
That storm cell didn't actually hit us. About an hour later we heard the rain coming down louder than our tv. Of course we had to check it out and so did the neighbors. Seeing as I don't have children to teach out to play in the gutter, I taught the next door neighbor's children how to do it.

Ward Campout

Wanna know the best thing about my ward camp-out this year? Well I am going to tell you. It was that it was only 20 min from my home so when I was done with eating and socializing, I got in my car, drove home, took a hot shower, and slept in my own bed that night.
Yeah...I am NOT a camper. I enjoy the beautiful mornings, but I can see that when I wake up to get ready for work. I enjoy sitting around chatting with people but honestly, I don't know most of these people.
I had a really good time though and it felt good to work on the "family ward bonds" hahaha

New Recipes

Rick and I are trying to eat healthier food. Last week I made some tostada thing that was pretty good. I forgot to take a photo. This week I made Linguine with Garlicky Breadcrumbs. Well I started with the recipe and tweeked it to fit what I had on hand, which included fresh basil. It was incredible! Even the next day...just don't mix the bread crumbs in until you are ready to eat. Mine was made with whole wheat thin spaghetti. I actually prefer whole wheat pasta. MMM this is making me hungry just thinking about it.

Summer

Apparently the theme for lately is BUSY and not knowing why. Well I can tell you why. I am getting a promotion at work that takes place next week. Well it is sort of a promotion. It has made it so my head is SO full while at work that by the time I get home, exercise for 45 in (yes I am being consistant) fixing food for the next day and cleaning up that I just don't find time to blog. Oh yeah, there is the Frontierville habit too.
Anyway, I hope to have some photos up on here...sometime.

Company Party

As I mentioned we have been really busy - Last week was my company party. I pretty much planned and purchased everything all by myself. It was fun though. I am glad it is over with. It sure wore me out. Apparently people had a good time though and that is what mattered!

The Great Salt Lake Marina

Last weekend we decided to brace the 100 degree temperatures and go to the Great Salt Lake Marina. It was fun, hot, and smelly. I was surprised at how many sail boats there were. There were some weirdos getting into the water too. The dood always loves to have his photo taken...Check out my photography blog for some other cool photos.

I learned that Utah has one of the three largest pelican populations in the country! Then of course there is Pink Floyd - the flamingo that escaped from the aviary many years ago. We didn't see him though.

Lila's 80th Birthday

Growing up we used to go to a family reunion every July for my grandma's family. We didn't know any of my grandpa's family then one day he died. His sister and cousins came to the cemetery and now we know them. Last weekend we went to my grandpa's cousin's 80th birthday party. (My first cousin twice removed.) It was fun. The dood and I were discussing how young we felt there and how great his parents are doing. (They turned 87 last week.)Just add it up to one more thing that has kept me from blogging lately.

Bountiful Baskets

My sister inspired me to try and get produce from some where other than the grocery store. There are no farmer's markets locally. I have no idea why since I live out in farm land. I did find Bountiful Baskets. I think what they have for the price is awesome! I was disappointed that there weren't more local items, if any, but they still taste great. Here is what we got in our first basket.
7 ears corn
6 oranges
7 nectarines (that are awesome)
bananas - which normally I don't like but these have great taste
1 pint cherry tomatoes
1 pint blue berries
1 cantaloupe, 3 yellow squash1 bunch white asparagus
1 head romaine lettuce
1 bag green grapes
and Brussel sprouts (something I have no idea what to do with)
I had to get up at 6:30 am on a Saturday to make it to the next town over, 20 min away to pick up my basket but it was worth it.
